Spring runoff is in full swing!
Spring has arrived in the mountains of Wyoming and the snow is melting fast. The Salt River is high and brown for the time being with flows around 2000 cfs for the last couple days. April provided a good taste of what’s to come this summer with excellent fishing in the region before the rivers became swollen with spring snowmelt. Alpine Outfitting Company is currrently preparing for upcoming season and is excited for the summer ahead. We are currently accepting booking for hiking and fishing trips for summer 2019 and will continue to post updates as the river starts fishing towards the end of June.

Current snowpack and season forecast
Currently snowed in, The mountains of western Wyoming have received record February snowfall which has brought the season snowpack to slightly above average. Why does that matter? Fly-fishing on river’s in the western states, especially at the beginning of the season, is directly affected by how much snow is in the mountains and how fast it is melting. Generally speaking, Fishing season runs from Late June until Mid-October. Alpine Outfitting Company guides exclusively on The Salt River which tends to clear up slightly earlier than river’s to the north around Jackson Hole where snowfall totals are higher and the river’s are “blown-out” into the summer months.
